Competition for a scholarship in gravitational-wave astrophysics

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center in Warsaw, Poland calls for applications for a PhD student research scholarship within the OPUS grant ''Calm before the storm: rethinking the gravitational-wave analysis toolbox in the face of future challenges”, nr 2021/43/B/ST9/01714, led by prof. Michał Bejger and financed by the National Science Centre. Scholarship is available for 36 months, for graduate students with a bachelor degree and PhD students in astronomy, physics or a related field, with a good knowledge of relativistic astrophysics, numerical methods and programming. Scope of work includes preparation and analysis of the data as well as astrophysical investigations in the group framework. The student will be required to write computing and data analysis scripts and publications.

The stipend amount is 5000 PLN gross, before taxes, monthly. Additional allowance for travel and computer equipment is available.

The contest will be resolved before the end of August 2022.


NCN scholarships may be awarded to a person who meets the criteria of the NCN rules “Regulations for awarding scholarships for NCN-funded research projects” (annex to resolution 25/2019 of the Council of NCN of March 14, 2019.)
