Research group team leader positions at the International Research Agenda AstroCeNT

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (NCAC) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK PAN) in Warsaw invites applications for 4 tenure-track research team leader positions at the new NCAC’s department AstroCeNT (Particle Astrophysics and Technology Centre) - an interdisciplinary, international research centre, founded by Prof. Leszek Roszkowski and Prof. Tomasz Bulik – the beneficiaries of the International Research Agenda Programme (IRAP) of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP). The programme is co-financed from the EU’s Smart Growth Operational Programme (POIR). The successful candidates will be expected to lead a R&D group dealing with one of the below areas: i) systems of silicon photomultipliers; ii) the related electronics; iii) big data acquisition and processing; iv) programming aspects of research. On this purpose they will form their research teams and build their own laboratories, for which additional generous funding will be available on a competitive basis.


To be suitable for this role the researchers — physicists and engineers — should have a proven strong record of conducting frontline R&D on ultra-sensitive instruments in particle physics and astrophysics, in particular in dark matter and/or gravitational wave studies.


The gross monthly salary on the position of the research group leader will be 27,000 PLN (the expected net salary of around 16,000 PLN).

The project implementation period is 5 years (until the end of June 2023).
