Full professor position in theoretical astrophysics

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK PAN) invites applications for the position of full professor (tenured) in the field of theoretical astrophysics.

We are looking for candidates focusing their research on evolution of stars and stellar systems, astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, gamma-ray bursts and physics of compact objects. We expect the successful candidate to develop a research programm to supplement and strengthen existing activities in gravitational waves astrophysics.

A prerequisite for the application is the Polish title of professor of physical sciences. Applicants should have substantial scientific achievements, documented experience in supervising PhD students and post-docs, and a proven track record in raising funds from Polish and foreign funding agencies. Candidates may be asked to present the results of their research on a seminar given at CAMK PAN.

The successful candidate will be appointed by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the position of full professor at CAMK, beginning from an individually agreed date.

Applicants should provide a copy of the professor diploma, curriculum vitae, a research statement (brief information concerning current research activities and plans for the future, in particular related to the requirements listed above; max. 4 pages of standard text), and at least three names of potential referees who have agreed to write letters of recommendation.
