Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK PAN) announces the competition for one post-doc position in gravitational waves data analysis and astrophysical interpretation. We are looking for a candidate with experience in methods of gravitational-wave data analysis and in astrophysics of compact objects, specifically those related to long-duration gravitational wave searches in the research scope of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration. The winner of the competition will conduct research within the OPUS project entitled Science with Gravitational Waves in the Era of LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Discoveries (nr 2023/49/B/ST9/02777), led by prof. Tomasz Bulik, in cooperation with Prof. Michał Bejger and collaborators.
Research tasks include development of data analysis methods focused on searches for long-duration (‘’continuous’’) gravitational waves in the context of directed and all-sky searches, and interpretation of signal candidates from the point of view of source properties.
Experience with the Time Domain F-statistic method and machine learning techniques will be an advantage.
We seek candidates holding the PhD degree in the field of physics or astronomy (or a related field) obtained within 7 years before employment in the project (career breaks such as for maternity/paternity leave can be taken into account).
Applicants must fulfil the formal requirements of the NCN included in the Regulations on Awarding Funding for Research Tasks Funded by the National Science Centre as Regards Research Projects for the OPUS 25 competition.

-
a scan of the signed NCN GDPR document.
Documents should be submitted by 21 August 2025, by e-mail (in the pdf format), with a subject „Post-doc position in gravitational wave data analysis” to recruitment@camk.edu.pl.
The contest will be resolved before 15 September 2025.
The selection criteria include:
the candidate's research achievements including publications in prestigious academic press /journals (50% of the final score);
research-related achievements, scholarships, awards and research experience gained in Poland or abroad, research workshops and training courses, participation in research projects (20% of the final score);
the candidate’s competence to carry out specific tasks in the research project (30% of the final score).
