Postdoctoral position in observational stellar astronomy

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK PAN) announces a competition for a post-doc position in Toruń.

We are looking for a candidate with significant experience in stellar astronomy. In particular, with significant experience in photometric data reduction and related programing experience.

Successful applicant will conduct research within the National Science Centre OPUS project entitled Stellar astronomy with a global network of robotic telescopes "Solaris (PI: prof. Maciej Konacki), carry out photometric and spectroscopic data reduction from the "Solaris" network, work on improving and development of the Solaris data pipeline and modelling of photometric and spectroscopic observations of eclipsing binary stars, collaborate with the BRITE consortium on spectroscopic follow-up of BRITE targets.

We seek candidates holding the PhD degree in the field of astronomy/astrophysics (a doctorate degree should be obtained no earlier than 7 years before the start of the employment) or PhD students at the last stages of their doctoral work. The contract should start not later than February 1, 2019 (the candidate should hold the PhD degree by that time).

The position is available for two years, with a possible extension for the third year (but no later than the end of the project), at: Department of Astrophysics - CAMK Toruń.

Applicants should submit a copy of the PhD diploma (or the supervisor's statement about the state of the PhD thesis), CV, list of scientific publications, two recommendation letters from independent researchers, and a research statement (concise information on the candidate's previous achievements and experience, and scientific interests: the text should not exceed 3500 characters, including spaces).
