Post-doctoral researcher positions: galactic dynamics and asteroseismology

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center in Warsaw, Poland, invites applications for post-doctoral positions:

 

1. Two postdoctoral positions in the field of galactic dynamics.

 

The successful applicants will collaborate with prof. Ewa Lokas on the project “Dynamics and morphology of interacting galaxies” funded by the Polish National Science Centre within the MAESTRO programme. Positions are available initially for two years with possible extensions. Funding for travel and research equipment will also be provided. The preferred starting date is October 1st, 2014. Candidates are required to have completed their PhD degree in astronomy, physics or related field before the starting date and no earlier than in 2009. The applicants should provide a cv, a copy of the PhD diploma, a list of publications, a statement of scientific interests and plans (2 pages) and arrange for two letters of recommendation. For full consideration, the applications should be received by March 31st, 2014. The review of applications will begin soon after this date and continue until the positions are filled. 2. Advanced post-doctoral position in the field of theoretical asteroseismology.

 

We invite applicants with PhD in astronomy or physics and with substantial research experience, including (but not limited to) at least one previous postdoc position. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated the ability to formulate and solve research problems.

 

Successful candidates are expected to start their appointment no earlier than October 1st, 2014 and no later than January 1st, 2015. The position is awarded for a 5 year period.
