Tenure-track position in Astrophysics

Applications are invited for a tenure-track research position at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (NCAC),  the leading astronomical institute in Poland. The current research at NCAC encompasses a broad range of both observational and theoretical subjects of modern astrophysics. NCAC scientists participate in many international projects, e.g., H.E.S.S., CTA, Fermi, Herschel, Virgo, LIGO, SALT, Gaia-ESO.

 

Candidates (both theorists and observers) with research proposals centered on ESO/ESA programs/missions are especially encouraged to apply.

 

We invite applicants with PhD in astronomy or physics and with substantial research experience, including (but not limited to) at least one previous postdoc position. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated the ability to formulate and solve research problems. Accepted candidates are expected to build their own research groups using Polish and European funds.

 

Successful candidates are expected to start their appointment in the Fall of 2015. The position is awarded for a 5 year period (with a mid-term evaluation). The salary will be commensurate with those of Polish researchers. Funds for research for some initial period will be provided. For more information contact prof.
