Arthur Silva Magalhães is a Ph.D. student at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) in Warsaw and a scholar at the Geoplanet Doctoral School, under the supervision of Dr. Abbas Askar.
The topic of his Ph.D. project is "Bridging Observations and Theory: Synthetic Star Cluster Observations from Numerical Simulations".
The main scientific goal of the project is to develop a suite of tools that transform numerical star cluster simulations into realistic synthetic photometric and kinematic observations (SYNOBS). Thus, enabling direct two-way comparisons between simulated results and observational data, improving our understanding of star cluster dynamics, evolution, and stellar populations. This project is funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) through the SONATA grant (2024/55/D/ST9/02585).
Arthur is currently a member of the MOCCA (MOnte Carlo Cluster simulAtor) group, working on the development and testing of COCOA++ (improved version of the COCOA tool) for generating synthetic photometric observation of star clusters, incorporating multi-epoch observation functionality.
