Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) in Warsaw/Toruń, Poland invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral position in field of evolved (low- and intermediate-mass) stars. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Ryszard Szczerba (szczerba@ncac.torun.pl) from the Torun branch of CAMK on selection and analysis of evolved stars based on the Spitzer and WISE data, supplemented by ground-based measurements.
The successful applicant will participate in selection and analysis of the AGB/post-AGB star candidates, using self-consistent time-dependent hydrodynamic radiative transfer modeling of gaseous dusty circumstellar shells around C-rich and O-rich stars in the final stages of their evolution. The ultimate goal is extension of the Toruń catalogue of post-AGB objects, as well as comparison of AGB evolution in different environments.
The prime requirement for employment is the possession of a valid PhD degree in astronomy at the starting date, but obtained no earlier than in 2013. Previous work with a focus on evolved stars of low- and intermediate-mas stars stages, as well as experience in computer programming is expected.

The starting date of the employment is envisaged to be 2 July 2018, but is to some extent negotiable. The salary of the successful candidate will be comparable to that of Polish researchers in the same career stage. Funding for travel and research equipment is available.
